Episode 212: Count Bass D (Part 1)
/

Count Bass D (born Dwight Conroy Farrell) is a vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work blends the roots of hip hop, soul, and gospel. A self-taught musician and lifelong crate-digger, he emerged in 1995 with “Pre-Life Crisis,” an ambitious, instrument-driven debut that defied genre lines. Over the decades, he’s built a catalog of singular projects—including “Dwight Spitz” and “Walter Dwight”—marked by inventive sampling, candid lyricism, and an unshakable devotion to craft.

Known for his relentless independence and collaborative spirit, he has worked with artists such as MF DOOM and Snoop Dogg while maintaining a fiercely personal approach to music-making. Guided by prowess, privacy, and posterity, Count Bass D continues to create with the intent of leaving a lasting, authentic mark.
