Geoff “Double G” Gallegos is a Los Angeles-based composer, conductor, and producer, known best for his work as the Music Director and Co-Founder of daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra. This group was an early arrival in the musical experiment of combining hip hop with large symphonic ensembles, and released the album “Unfinished Symphony” in 2002. The group followed up with “III x 13,” and “Gangsta Wagner,” as well as more than a decade of activity on the concert stage.
In addition to the prolific output with this groundbreaking ensemble, Double G has composed an impressive catalog of “classical” chamber music, big band, jazz nonet, and jazz sextet. As an arranger and saxophonist, he has contributed to recordings with sElf, india.arie, Everlast, John Frusciante, Nine Inch Nails, Ziggy Marley, The Heavy, Ghostface Killah, Weapon of Choice, Breakestra, and others. Most recently, he has conducted for Kamasi Washington’s large ensemble at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Coachella and Hollywood Bowl.
