Episode 61: Fifteen Minutes of Funk History with Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis (1941-2021)
/

Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis was a saxophonist, composer and arranger best known as the bandleader and arranger for the James Brown Orchestra during its most prolific and groundbreaking period, appearing on many of Brown’s most notable recordings and co-writing hits like “Cold Sweat” and “Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud”.

Pee Wee passed away on September 23, 2021. I’m humbled and honored to present our short, but deeply meaningful chat, for the podcast.
