Episode 7: David Haffner
/

For the seventh episode of Sounds Visual Radio, we sat down with David Haffner, who is perhaps best known for starting and operating the Friends of Sound record store in Austin from 2006-2017. David has been deeply involved with music and records for 25 years. His story, like many of ours, starts with Hip Hop. From being inspired by the turntablist culture in the Bay Area, where he grew up, to doing rap mix shows and digging for records through the mid-90s in college, to continuing that path working opening up his store and working for Records By Mail and Preservation Project, to creating his own music publishing companies and releasing reissues – his focus has always been walking a road of musical discovery and an attempt to share those discoveries with the world.
