Episode 151: Ruby Andrews

Ruby Andrews is a singer whose powerful, emotive voice–coupled with her dramatic, dynamic songs–cemented her status in the world of soul & funk music. Her best known songs include “Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)” (1967), “You Made A Believer (Out Of Me)” (1969), and “Everybody Saw You” (1970).

She recorded at least six albums that are each highly treasured by soul & funk fans all over the world. One album in particular, her second–1972’s Black Ruby–is her most revered effort, and is considered an exemplary classic of deep Chicago soul.
